Nothing to See Here; Move Along

So the hateful, bigoted murderer who killed a college student basically for being gay is going to get less than three years time in prison.

Thats disgusting!! But it is our justice system that is even more so!

Results like this only give people more reason to do it. When they pretty much get away with a slap on the wrist!

Sadly enough, I heard from my aunt who recently graduated from University of Texas Arlington-UTA with a bachelors in criminal justice that there's actually some sort of screwy clause/law (can't remember), that if a straight man is hit on by a gay man he might be able to worm his way out of a murder charge if he kills him... something about defending his "manliness" and being in shock I need to look that up and see exactly what it's called because that's just disturbing.

My state used to have an "importuning" law, which was enforced against gay men in sting operations. Basically, the law stated something to the effect of if Person A asked Person B for some kind of sexual contact, and Person A could reasonably suspect that Person B wasn't interested to begin with, then Person A was guilty of an offense that carried a fine or jail time.

It was NEVER enforced against drunk men who hit on women in bars. It was almost always used in sting operations by agents who would hang around looking interested and whenever someone would approach, on with the cuffs.

The law was scrapped or overturned sometime in the last 10 years. However, it appears that in South Carolina, the appearance of insulting someone's manhood is punishable by immediate execution by the insulted's hand.

By the way, I think I just made a post that was actually too long... No one is going to want to sit that long to read what I have to say. lawl

I cannot fathom the punishment being so light. Are there protests planned? Can the prosecution appeal?
