Why All the Short Posts Lately

Work has been...

Well...

Let's just say that we went through a reorganization. I no longer have to worry about managing people. I am an Individual Contributor now. This will take some getting used to. Much of my energy lately has been devoted to worrying about whether I would continue to be employed, and that question has been answered, so here we are.

Back to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress.

So sorry.

Most of us hate change.
You will find aspects of your new position that will make you content if you keep your eyeballs open.

I think my biggest hurdle is trying to identify how much of my identity is wrapped up in being a manager. I have to unroll those bits of me and reroll them with a new twist.

My verification word (since I'm not logged in yet) is "hydra".

I hope you adjust soon. At least you still have a job and now that you aren't in charge of a group anymore maybe you can get some peace. Something tells me that even though you aren't officially management anymore everyone will still go to you for all their problems. Hope there was no pay cut.

No pay cut, but future raise opportunities could be limited.

Thanks, all, for the kind words. It was a little bit of a kick in the teeth, but I'm a big boy, so I'll get over it.

One of my close work friends isn't so lucky. He's pursuing job opportunities as we speak.

Unfortunately, we do identify ourselves with our job titles or positions, when the important thing is to live our lives according to our principles. I'm sure, for example, that Son doesn't care about your job title; he's just happy to call you Dad.

Regardless, you're still tall. That can't take that away from you.

Glad you survived; I've survived a few rounds of "reorganization" and that kind of stress is no fun.
